Pain...

Pain is something so complex and deep yet can come from the simplest of things; a paper cut, stubbing the toe, biting the tongue... but then that pain, fairly quickly, subsides.

What trips me out is that the most dangerous pain is mental/emotional - even through painful disease. This type of pain runs much deeper - to the core of who we are even if caused by physical pain. It's the type of pain that is also born out of confusion, sin, circumstance, tragedy or even so-called love. Tis the side effect of the fallen nature of man.
There is a plot within this dangerous pain to either get us to greatness within ourselves, or to take over our healthy state of being. And even in sickness there is still victory and power to the glory of God.
So I ponder on this... The Lord says in His Word:

 20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
   turn your ear to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
   keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
   and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
   for everything you do flows from it.
24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
   keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
   fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Give careful thought to the[c] paths for your feet
   and be steadfast in all your ways.
27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
   keep your foot from evil.
Proverbs 4 NIV

So no matter the issue, the true struggle and triumph is to stay focused and keep the Word of the Lord close to the heart where all of the issues of life flow through; guarding our thoughts, utilizing joy, and disciplining our actions. The Word of the Lord is our defense strategy, Lord of the immune system, Comfort, Counsel, peace... Why should we ever turn from His Way? (Rhetorical question of course :o)
