No more Telemarketers! New Law...

Here's what's up. Telemarketers can't call your house but now neither can those annoying automated messages.

I still have to get more details but I know AOL had a story about it if you can track it there.

This new law prevents telemarketers from calling even if they have done business with you in the past. The only way a telemarketer can contact you is if you give them written permission.

Yay!

Do You Have Fears?

If you have F.E.A.R, you must remember that you have already been given F.A.I.T.H.

God says that He has given each of us a measure of faith! Lets take advantage of it! Romans 12:3

F.E.A.R stands for:
FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.

F.A.I.T.H. stands for:
FAVOR AS IN THE HEAVENS.

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

I hope this encourages someone.

Plaxico Burress

In 2008, Plaxico Burress, former wide receiver for the Steelers and Giants, created his own nightmare by shooting himself in the leg with his own gun while in a New York nightclub.

Burress had the gun in his waistband when it started slipping. When he reached for the gun it went off and shot him inches away from his femoral artery. The hospital failed to report the incident to the police but they found out anyway due to the news coverage. He turned himself in to face charges.

Burress is scheduled to report to prison in September and I think it's just crazy. Here is a man with no serious priors. Okay, He did have a couple of domestic issues which were dropped, some moving violations, and he had plenty of issues on the field.

He has to serve a 2 year sentence and then once out, will be under supervision.
Now under New York law, he should have received at least 3 1/2 years so apparently he was shown some leniency. However his bond was a bit suspect.

Before finding out his status, Burress' bond was only $10,000. After finding out who he was, it was set to $250,000. This is where I had an issue. It's obvious that the state saw his bond as an opportunity to fatten their pockets. I hardly think they suspected him to be a flight risk because he would have too much to lose. Also, they knew most likely that even if he were a flight risk, he could still afford bail and leave.

Plaxico said in an interview that he didn't know it was illegal to carry at all. I don't know if he was telling the truth or not. He stated that after being burglarized twice and knowing friends that had been robbed, he felt the need to protect himself.
In his case, I am sympathetic to his concerns and I'm sure many other athletes feel the same way. However, with owning firearms and having a public status, one should think wisely enough to go the extra mile to be aware of and adhere to city and state laws. They have too much at risk to not be knowledgeable in these things.

Due to the mishap, Burress will miss the birth of his new daughter in November and will be away from his wife and son as well. Professionally, he is now a free agent and will most likely play again after his release, hopefully more humble and wiser.

Life On the Tarmac

How familiar is the frustration of being stuck on a tarmac waiting to take flight.

We recently have heard of the horrific story of passengers being stuck on a tarmac for 9 hours or so and that it took an overall 12 hours to complete their transport.
Passengers rightfully complained of the stench of an overused toilet, stinky diapers, crying babies, lack of comfort, and lack of food and drink.

I find it interesting that in the same way these people were detained, often, life can detain us in a similar manner. Sometimes the attempt to get moving is stalled for unbelievable or even unknown reasons. No matter how much we are ready to complete a task, go higher in our purpose, or feel the need for greater success, there can be a huge delay. Our plans for our lives get re-routed, shifted, and sometimes shut down, causing us to create a new action plan. Though, this can be depressing, frustrating and totally inconvenient, if we are smart we'll allow the interruption to make us more creative and wisely productive!

We've all been created and wired to move toward something. Aging and death are proof of this. So either way, whether delayed, denied, or derailed, our lives our filled with a purposeful inertia.

What To Really Do When Your Spouse Looks Guilty...

What do you do when every arrow points to your spouse cheating but deep down you think they're not?

1. First. Think rationally and remember that arrows are meant to harm and pierce deeply. Don't be [an easy] target! Therefore, be careful not to act simply off the appearance of things. Keep peace and shun negative thinking if you can.

2. Be honest and examine yourself. Are you unusually insecure? Or do you have valid reason to be suspicious; trust your instinct and don't feel bad about your suspicions. Suspicions are sometimes God's way of guiding us to a better place.

3. Do not talk to irrational people that never have peace or keep up drama, no matter how much you love them. Don't speak to anyone that plays sides, no matter how much they love you.

4. Remember who your spouse is. Trust that special part of them that made you feel secure from the beginning. It's okay to believe that they are not cheating on you. Have faith. Pray the Lord expose them to him/herself and fill their heart with understanding and wisdom if they have been making unwise and disrespectful choices.

5. You feel your spouse has crossed marital boundaries? This doesn't mean adultery has taken place. This is possibly a danger zone for it to soon occur so you must be confident in what you see and respectfully discuss what you have noticed. Tell them in so many words that you see the arrows that have come to destroy your union. Respectful communication is key.

6. Do not repay evil for evil. Don't spark more confusion by doing the same wrongs as your spouse. Be the bigger person and simply act like you have a life outside of him/her. :o)

7. You must still do your part! Love and admonish your spouse and don't be afraid to be made a fool of; you know, the feeling of being naive or gullible while s/he sleeps around.

8. Trust the Almighty! Don't look for negative signs because that gives room for evil to cloud your judgment. God will reveal to YOU what the real deal is. What's in the dark must always come to the light. It's a principle set forth in this earth that must occur. God will confirm whether your spouse is guilty or not and your heart will not be changed. You will be secure in your knowing.

Be blessed!
